Global Groundwork Resource Kit- Access to Health Care

Middle

Description

These two lessons are designed to provide global education specific to access to health care. They could be used separately.

  • Lesson One - Students compare their circumstances with less fortunate children by examining three case studies from the developing world.  They then answer several solution- seeking questions. Finally, students work in groups to choose a health-related NGO and research the steps it is taking to improve access to health care.
  • Lesson Two - Students read to find out what AIDS is, then plot country by country aids statistics on a map. A class discussion based on their observations ends the lesson and connects their learning back to poverty and access to heath care.
